Complaints

At Navajo Technical University, we are committed to fostering a respectful and inclusive work environment where all members of our community are treated with dignity and fairness. We understand that concerns or grievances may arise from time to time, and we are here to address them promptly and effectively through our complaints resolution process.

How to File a Complaint

If you have a complaint related to employment matters, discrimination, harassment, or other issues within the scope of HR policies and procedures, we encourage you to follow these steps to initiate the resolution process:

Informal Resolution
Whenever possible, we encourage individuals to attempt to resolve concerns informally by directly addressing the issue with the person(s) involved or their immediate supervisor. Many misunderstandings can be resolved through open communication and mutual understanding.

Formal Complaint
If the issue cannot be resolved informally or if you are uncomfortable addressing it directly, you may choose to file a formal complaint with the HR department. To do so, please submit a written complaint detailing the nature of the issue, relevant dates, and any supporting documentation.

Investigation and Resolution
Upon receipt of a formal complaint, the HR department will conduct a thorough and impartial investigation to gather relevant facts and evidence. We are committed to treating all parties involved with fairness, respect, and confidentiality throughout the process.
Depending on the nature of the complaint, HR may collaborate with other university departments or external resources to facilitate resolution and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Outcome and Follow-Up
Once the investigation is complete, HR will communicate the findings and any resulting actions or recommendations to the parties involved. We are dedicated to resolving complaints in a timely manner and implementing measures to prevent recurrence or further issues.
HR will also provide opportunities for feedback and follow-up to ensure that the resolution process meets the needs and expectations of all parties involved.

Confidentiality and Non-Retaliation

Navajo Technical University is committed to protecting the confidentiality of individuals involved in the complaints resolution process and prohibiting retaliation against anyone who files a complaint or participates in an investigation. We encourage open communication and collaboration to address concerns effectively and promote a positive work environment for all.
